Beautiful Danish Ceramics Inspired by Cubist Paintings

Vilhelm Lunsdtrom images

Vilhelm Lundstrøm was one of Denmark's most successful modernist painters. He introduced French cubism to Denmark, and is remembered for his geometric still lifes, his cubistic scenes with nudes and his paintings of bottles, flasks and jugs. His style was characterised by clear, bright lines and few colours. Lundstrøm spent an extended period in France in the 1920s where he was influenced by Braque, Picasso and Cézanne.

Strom Range by Raawii

Nearly 100 years later, Danish designer Nicholai Wiig Hansen has taken Lundstrøm's paintings as the inspiration for this beautiful range of ceramics by Raawii. Perfectly formed and finished with rich, smooth, matte colours, these pieces are awfully desirable, like living with works of art! They are such statement pieces they make a fantastic wedding or house warming gift, or any art and design fan will delight in them. Currently on display and for sale at the IMMA Shop's Pop Up at Kildare Village until October 31st.
