Created on the occasion of the stunning immersive installation devised by digital installation artist Aoife Dunne and in celebration of IMMA 30. Hypnotically staged in the centre of IMMA Courtyard, DREAMSPHERE engulfed spectators in a site-specific, multi-sensorial mindscape, where playful allusions to consciousness-sharing collide with fevered envisioning of the imprisoned mind.
Digital installation artist, Aoife Dunne, creates large-scale immersive environments, fusing sculpture, video, sound, performance, technology, and costume. What bridges all of her multimodal works together is her interest in digital and material culture, illustrating continual references to the surreal and hyper-real. With a language that is rooted in post-pop and post-internet, Dunne’s work submerges audiences into phantasmagorical, detail-driven virtual and physical worlds.
Dunne’s multi-hyphenate background working in dance, performance, fashion, and musical composition has greatly influenced her diverse approach to creating large-scale experiential work. As a designer of experiences, Dunne is best known for her inimitable aesthetic, distinctive practice, and site-specific, colourfully chaotic work.
Aoife Dunne studied Fine Art Media at The National College of Art and Design and received her BFA in 2016. Since graduating, Dunne has had numerous solo exhibitions internationally, with upcoming shows in Tokyo, New York and Paris.
