This necklace celebrates the
American street photographer Vivian Maier (February 1, 1926 – April 21, 2009) Maier worked for about forty years as a nanny pursuing photography during her spare time. She took more than 150,000 photographs during her lifetime, primarily of the people and architecture of Chicago and American city streets. During her lifetime, Maier's photographs were unknown and unpublished; many of her negatives were never printed. A Chicago collector acquired some of Maier's photos  and published them on the Internet. The results went viral attracting critical acclaim, and since then, Maier's photographs have been exhibited around the world.

Dublin born artist Ciarna Pham, who works under the name Kiki Na Art, is the creator of these unique pieces of handcrafted jewellery. The stunning one of a kind pieces are made for the individual and no two pieces are ever the same. To compliment the Desire exhibition at IMMA, Kiki Na Art has produced a collection of unique jewellery and wall pieces based on women artists in the museum collection.
