The Museum of Modern Art in New York, fondly known by most as MoMA established the world's first architecture and design department in 1932. The museum has long recognised the important role design has in our culture alongside more traditional mediums like painting and sculpture. Vilhelm Lundstrøm was one of Denmark's most successful modernist painters. He introduced French cubism to Denmark, and is remembered for his geometric still lifes, his cubistic scenes with nudes and his paintings of bottles, flasks and jugs. His style was characterised by clear, bright lines and few colours. Lundstrøm spent an extended period in France in the 1920s where he was influenced by Braque, Picasso and Cézanne. Nearly 100 years later, Danish designer Nicholai Wiig Hansen has taken Lundstrøm's paintings as the inspiration for this beautiful range of ceramics by Raawii.
