Anne Madden - Seven Paintings 2020-23

Seven Paintings by Anne Madden is a new series of works made during the Covid-19 pandemic. The paintings reflect the artist's career-long exploration of ancient themes and archetypes as a means of expressing life's unpredictable forces and mutability.

"Anne Madden's latest work emerges out of a non-spoken cleft of experience, where dream and myth encounter the cruelties of contemporary reality - the mute loss of loved ones, the death of an adolescent mother in a grotto devoted to the blessed Virgin, the bloodshed of Northern Ireland, the brutality of war and its aftermath."
