The gorgeous matt finish of Hahnemüle German Etching is warm in tone. Thanks to the weight and texture of German Etching the paper can hold more ink allowing it to capture strong colours and deep blacks that are rich and high in contrast. Thus, the paper delivers a beautiful tactile, handcrafted feel.
Patricia Hurl was originally from Dublin and a former member of Temple Bar Galleries and Studios, she now lives and works in Silverbarn Studios, Ballybritt, Co. Offaly. Hurl was a lecturer in Fine Art Painting at the Dublin Institute of Technology and studied at the National College of Art and Design 1975 and at Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design 1984. Hurl currently runs the Damer Gallery in Tipperary along with Therry Rudin. In 1984 she won the Norah McGuinness award for painting. She creates expressionist works that deal with loss, pain, frustration and loneliness. Her work is of its nature political, drawing her influences from the Feminist Artists / Activists in the 60’s /70’s and 80’s. More recently, her work deals with the issues of isolation and loneliness, often associated with ageing.
